Job Description

The Salvation Army Switzerland as a church and social non-profit organization offers uncomplicated support to people in challenging life situations. The organizational unit International Development (ID) has the mission to fight poverty and injustice on an international level. ID works extensively within the international network of The Salvation Army. ID promotes partnerships based on transparency and accountability.

The tasks

  • Management of a portfolio of projects in the fields of Water and Sanitation, food security, Gender based violence, health and education.
  • Establish close links with partners and support the capacity development to ensure the delivery of projects outcomes from a technical, financial and administrative perspective
  • Contribute to the development of new projects and the documentation of lessons learned
  • Contribute to ID’s strategy
  • Support the fundraising and communication activities
  • The position is based in Bern with frequent travel to partner countries (4/6 trips per year)

Your profile

  • University education or relevant professional experience (International cooperation)
  • Ideally experience in one or more thematic areas such as water and sanitation, food security, gender based violence and education.
  • Experience and/or understanding of working in an intercultural context 
  • Experience in working together with consultants
  • Able to work in a team and work efficiently under pressure
  • Comfortable in speaking in public
  • Excellent IT-skills
  • Besides English (Team-Language), you are able to communicate in German and in French as well
